MAISA Men's Singlehanded Championship - Carl Van Duyne Trophy
October 10–11
King's Point, New York, NY
Saturday: "Manly" conditions for the Men's Singlehandeds! The day started with winds out of the West-Northwest at 12 knots and quickly built to 16-20 knots before the first race. Five races were sailed before a lunch break. In the afternoon the wind continued to build with puffs over 20 knots, shifting right and kicking up 2-3' chop. Three more races were completed in the afternoon before racing was called for the day. All courses were W4s with a leeward gate, except for race 8, which was a Gold Cup. No protests were filed and one boat retired after finishing.
Sunday: Winds out of the Northwest from 6-12 knots with occasional puffs to 14 knots. Winds were extremely shifty, with several 10-15 degree shifts on each beat. Ten races were completed on W4s. One protest was filed resulting in a DSQ in race 12.
